What Jack Says...
It's pretty rare when you can list a movies genre as Comedy, Sci-Fi, and Horror. There has to be something special about a movie that can now shouldn't there?
I have really put off watching Zombieland for a long time because I really don't like zombie movies. I KNOW, I KNOW I should be stabbed and left for dead for that statement, but I don't. I generally find zombie movies to be one note and unenlightening. I was not a huge fan of Sean of the Dead either. Now you've just gone and stopped reading now haven't you? On the plus side I was pleasantly surprised when I ended up enjoying this movie.
As a general rule I don't like Woody Harrelson, but he was excellent in this role. He might be one of those actors like Matt Damon where the older they get, the more interesting they are as actors. The character that really sold me was Emma Stone's character. I love me some Emma Stone and she can do no wrong with me. She has really blossomed into a beautiful woman and an excellent actress. I won't say much about Jesse Eisenberg because he always plays himself. Sorry Jesse, but you should have just stuck to Adventureland because you were phenomenal in that.
The zombies in this movie were actually cool and the ways that they killed them were educational. I found this movie to be like a "How to kill zombies" flick and that might come in handy in the zombie apocalypse. You know it's coming. Don't lie to yourself. My zombie killing weapon will be a human arm. Yep, a human arm. Just swing that arm like a bat to take off some zombie heads. Don't go stealing my idea now.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed and I'm not as turned off by zombie films anymore. This movie was funny, exciting and Bill Murray was awesome. I still don't want to read anymore zombie scripts though. A note to new screenwriters: Zombies can't speak in full sentences, run fast, or think. Those are called vampires. Make a mental note of that.
I give this one a solid 8. Highly Enjoyable.
