The Runaways

What Jack Says...
The Runaways is the story of the all girl punk band of the 70's. They were debatably the first and best all girl punk band in music history.

Now let's get serious. The only reason anyone saw this movie was because the illustrious Kristen Stewart was in it. I will admit that was a huge draw for me and If it had not been for her, I am sure I would have never seen it. I will say that this movie was different for her and she kinda had to be a bad ass. That isn't typically her thing but she had to pull it out to be Joan Jett. I was pleased to see that Kristen didn't used her "crutch" like she typically does. The crutch that I am referring to is that odd head turn grabbing her hair thing she does. Look for it in all her movies up until this point and believe me it's there.

Dakota Fanning is also in this movie and I was a little impressed with her. This movie is something completely different for her and it will force audiences to see here a woman and not a little girl. Mark my words this will be the last time you ever see her play a teen roll. Once you play a drug addicted, scantily clad, possibly lesbian character, you don't go back.

The rest of the cast was just so so. Michael Shannon plays their producer and he did extremely well at what he does best, being creepy. The rest of the girls in the band could have been played by anyone, but I think that Kristen and Dokota were meant to play these rolls.

Overall I really enjoyed the flick and it was a good music bio pic. The script was good, the girls were hot and I love Kristen Stewart just that much more. I am eager to see what else her and Dakota can do.

Over all I give this movie a 7

What Hari Says...

I have absolutely no desire at all ever to see this movie.  I hate Kristen Stewart.  She is obnoxious and annoying and has ruined the Twilight Saga irreparably.  She should be hanged.  She is like that chicken from the Anamaniacs, Boo.  The chicken had no personality.  Usually this would be a good thing for an actress because the actress would take on the persona of the character.  However, dumbass just carries over her cardboard cutoutness to the big screen, which makes for a tiresome and artless production.
